If you don’t want to update your Zoom client for some reason, you can follow an alternate approach to blur the background in the Zoom video call. In fact, Zoom disables the “I have a green screen” option when you select the Blur option. Note: You don’t need to have a green screen to use the blur feature. If you don’t like the blur effect, you can revert to the original video or replace your background with an image or video in the same ‘Background & Filters’ menu in Zoom settings. The background blur effect will be applied automatically to your video in the meeting.
On the next screen, select the Blur background effect. While in a meeting, click on the up-facing arrow next to Stop Video. You can now close Settings and join a meeting with the blur background effect. Zoom will now blur your background, and the same will be reflected in real-time in the preview window. Under Virtual Backgrounds, select Blur. Select Background & Filters from the sidebar at left. Click the Settings icon at the top right corner. But before we start, make sure to update your Zoom client to the new version, if not already. If you click the plus sign on the right side of the Zoom window, select Add Image to use any picture stored on your computer. Note: If you select Blur, it will make your background opaque, but it will also blur out any objects that are too close or far from your camera, including objects you are holding.
Finally, change your background using one of Zoom’s default images or click the plus sign to upload your own image or video. You should also check the box under Virtual background if you want to use a video background. Then scroll down to Virtual background under In Meeting (Advanced) and click the slider to the right to enable it. Note: If you don’t see this option, go to /profile/setting and sign in to your account. 
You will see this in the left sidebar of the Settings window that pops up. It might have a picture of you or your initials. You will see this in the top-right corner of the window.
